By default the XackupAPI service listens on this computer only (127.0.0.1). That is enough when you use the desktop app on the same machine.

Letting other computers connect

Choose this when Xackup on another machine, or the web UI, needs to reach this service. The installer asks the question. To answer it as an option, use -LocalOnly:$false.

When other computers may connect, the service:

  • listens on all addresses, on TCP port 19177
  • gets a Windows Firewall rule named Xackup API, for Domain and Private networks

Add -AllowPublicNetworks to open the port on Public networks too. Add -NoFirewall to leave the firewall alone and manage it yourself.

Changing your mind

Run the installer again and give the other answer. The choice is kept when you upgrade. Switching back to this computer only removes the firewall rule.

Web UI

The desktop install already includes the web UI server (the XackupAPI service). There is no need to install a separate web UI on a computer that has the desktop app.
